Angela I. Correa serves as the Public Information Officer for Virginia Tech’s Sea Grant/CFAST program. She has a background in planning and implementation of public information campaigns and educational programs within the agriculture, environmental, and medical communities. Within the program, she works to produce the triannual CFAST News, as well as a peer-reviewed journal, the International Journal of Recirculating Aquaculture. She assists faculty, staff, and graduate students with the dissemination of their research results and outreach efforts, and works with the editors of relevant trade publications to place articles and generate interest in the CFAST program. She also works with displays, and with planning, writing, and editing of numerous other publications including fact sheets, brochures, manuals, proceedings, web sites, and audiovisual programs.
Correa currently serves as the communications representative for Sea Grant’s Mid-Atlantic region, which includes New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. In this capacity, she promotes regional collaboration on projects and communications proposals, and is also the liaison between the region’s communicators and the national office.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Angela has made the mountains of Virginia her home since 1989. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (University of Virginia, 1994). She is a member of the Association for Communications Excellence, the Virginia Aquaculture Association, and the Virginia Press Women.
