The Catalog of Fishes	The Catalog "contains around 56,000 described species and subspecies of fishes, about 10,600 genera and subgenera of fishes, and about 21,700 references... About 200-300 new species are being described each year." The on-line catalog is more recent than the hardbound printed edition (1998) and many corrections have been made to the on-line information.

Institute of Marine Biology of Crete	The IMBC is one of Europe's newest institutions, founded in 1987 as an independent research organisation by the then Greek Ministry of Industry, Energy, Research and Technology, under the direct supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology. Total Maximum Daily Load Program	A TMDL, or Total Maximum Daily Load, is a tool for implementing water quality standards and is based on the relationship between pollution sources and in-stream water quality conditions. The TMDL establishes the allowable loadings or other quantifiable parameters for a waterbody and thereby provides the basis to establish water quality-based controls. These controls should provide the pollution reduction necessary for a waterbody to meet water quality standards.
